A handcrafted log cabin perched on 20 private acres, where the only sound is wind through pines and the only schedule is the slow turn of mountain light.
Dancing Stones Log Cabin wasn't designed as a rental — it was built as a refuge. A single-family retreat carved from local timber and set deep into a ridge of old-growth pines, it sits where the phone signal fades and the sky opens wide.
Today, we open its doors to a small number of guests each season. Not because we're exclusive — but because this land deserves the attention that comes with quiet, and our guests deserve the kind of stillness that only comes when nowhere else is calling.
Each room fitted with hand-selected linens and mountain views. One king, one queen — both with blackout shades for sleeping until natural light.
Cast iron, copper pots, and every utensil a serious cook would want. Stocked with local coffee, maple syrup, and basics so you can settle in without a store run.
A floor-to-ceiling stone hearth that draws the room inward. Firewood is provided — just strike a match and let the mountain evening begin.
An outdoor hot tub positioned at the ridge's edge — warm water, cool air, and a sky so dark you'll remember what the Milky Way actually looks like.
Fast, reliable internet for those who need to work from the mountains. Use it or don't — the choice is always yours.
Two levels of cedar decking with rocking chairs, a fire pit, and bench seating that faces due west — perfect for watching the valley catch fire at dusk.
There's a particular quality to mountain light in early morning — cool, pale gold, filtering through pines that haven't been touched by traffic or cell towers. At Dancing Stones, you don't need an itinerary to make the most of it.
Spend your days on the trails that wind through our 20 acres, or simply sit on the deck and watch the light move across the valley. Your evenings belong to the hot tub, the fireplace, and whatever conversation you've been meaning to have.

Short drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park trails
The cabin sits at the center of a private ridge, surrounded by pine, oak, and hemlock. No neighbors in sight — just the kind of quiet that makes you forget your phone exists.
Cherokee sits on the southern border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From Dancing Stones, you're a 10-minute drive to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center, 20 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and 45 minutes to the heart of downtown Cherokee — but the cabin itself feels a world away.
